The Web 2.0 Generation

Because it is a weekend and I have nothing else to do (but finish 350++ pages of book so I can have extra moolahs), I decided to write yet another scholarly article. (Yeah, right!)

I stumbled upon an article recounting the story of a college kid who was offered a job at CISCO. The kid made a tweet about it (Cisco just offered me a job! Now I have to weigh the utility of a fatty paycheck against the daily commute to San Jose and hating the work.); the higher ups at CISCO saw it, and the job offer was, well, take a guess. The CISCO guy replied: Who is the hiring manager. I'm sure they would love to know that you will hate the work. We here at Cisco are versed in the web. There, the job offer was revoked.

More than just sharing how it feels like heaven for you to look into the eyes of a goddess of beauty, you may utilize the power of Web 2.0 to connect to others, to network, to express yourself meaningfully, to promote a cause, etc. Social platforms have so much advantages that we should be taking advantage of right now. I know some people (gurus like John Chow, Carl Ocab, Yugatech, and Corics) are earning not just barya-barya from ads, reviews, etc. Some big companies use blogs as their newsletter. A number of people have blogs to show their portfolio for potential or prospective clients.

What is my point? I guess nothing so awesome. Just sharing an observation... Web 2.0 presents us with risks and benefits. Let's try to focus on the good things it can offer, and avoid things that might hurt us professionally, psychologically, or in some other way.

More Paid Networking Sites

In my previous post below, I mentioned sites that may help us bloggers to monetize or commercialize our blogs/sites. I found additionl sites while surfing the net last night. I took the liberty of deleting similar sites from my previous post.

Note - again - that I have no idea which site is a potential page rank killer.

Monetize Your Blog through Blog Advertising

I was just thinking: What’s wrong with monetizing your blog? You get to develop your writing skills/capability, and you earn from it. And this is what I will do in this and another blog of mine. I’ll still maintain a paid-post-free blog (which is mostly on politics, governance, economic, foreign affairs, etc). But for this one and my i.PH account, well, I’ll be accepting ads from now on. I’ve already mentioned this by the way in my most recent post.

Anyway, I just want to share with my fellow bloggers a list of sites that offers paid blogs, sponsored reviews, and similar opportunities. I got this from another website (SOCIALSEO.com). I hope you’ll find something in this list. I already have a few assignments from a couple of these websites.

WARNING: I don’t know if any of these sites will have an effect to your page ranks or whatever, so, please, do your own research on that aspect.

If you want to look for more ways on how to monetize your blog, you may visit PinoyMoneyTalk.com. The site itself is a gold mine. Just be patient and read the articles there. Joining the discussions in their forum is even more productive.
