They say there should always be attribution. If we do that, all those singing Magkaisa, Balatkayo and songs of VST & Co.,, when they don't say they are the composer, we can charge them with plagiarism if we follow what critics say. - Sen. Vicente Sotto III, http://www.rappler.com/nation/11405-sotto-blasts-critics,-backs-blogging-billSotto's defense so far:
- Originally: NO, I DID NOT COPY ANYTHING FROM ANYONE.
- His staff tried to click the link but it failed to download.
- They cannot access the original so they think "copying" the blog which quoted the book they were trying to access is ok.
- Plagiarism is not a crime here in the Philippines, so, there's nothing really wrong with what he did.
Kill me now, please. Wait -- I think it's a crime to kill me even if I beg for it. If it's not a law here in the Philippines, maybe it's OK to kill me. I'll sign a waiver.
Or wake me up when 2013 election is over.

i think a lot of people do just that: posting quotes on fb or twitter without properly attributing to the person who originally or who first said it!
then, most of us (if not all) should be guilty of plagiarism. :)
errr... yeah i agree with you -- because "a lot of people do just that: posting quotes on fb or twitter without properly attributing to the person who originally or who first said it". :-)
also, i don't think it's wrong to accept bribes if you are a govt official because most (if not all) govt officials accept bribes anyway. :-)
also (finally), i also believe posting "quotes" in fb and twitter is very much similar to delivering a speech in the senate floor. :-)
im just saying..dami kasing mga taong nagmamalinis, these days. so ah, kung gaano tayo ka kritikal pag dating sa ibang tao, dapat ganun din tayo sa sarili natin! :)
and since all of us are guilty of plagiarism..then all of us owes an apology. Not only the Senator.
No matter what the medium- web, books, thesis or speech in the senate floor..plagiarism is plagiarism, man! No exception! :D
sana ngayong pasko may magregalo kay Sen Sotto ng Turabian o nang kahit anong citation guide. :D
